April, 2006

Dear Green or greenish friend,

We all know that the assault on democracy goes far beyond Bush administration thugs dragging Cindy Sheehan out of the State of the Union address. The Summer 2006 Synthesis/Regeneration (No. 40) on "Salvaging Democracy" explores how the denial of democratic rights is limited to neither party nor country. It includes long-standing attempts to undermine efforts by Latin Americans to control their own destiny. Sadly, the best hope for political democracy - the Green Party - has its own internal problems with proportional voting rights and betrayal of fundamental principles.

Political democracy is ultimately rooted in economic democracy. Thus, S/R 40 addresses dialectics, capitalism and participatory socialism. This issue of S/R documents critical biodevastation issues, including genetic engineering, food, allergens, sea turtles, pesticides and the car.

Rates for S/R 40 are:

1-4 copies, $3.95 each;
5-9 copies, $3.00 each;
10+ copies, $2.00 each.
