10th Annual Pesto Feast on September 23
The 10th annual Gateway Greens Great Green Pesto Feast will take place on Saturday, September 23, at St. John's Methodist Church at Kingshighway and Washington in the Central West End, from 5:00 till 9:00 p.m.
The cost of the event had not been decided upon by this publication's deadline, but organizers anticipate that a discount will be offered for advance ticket purchases by members of the Gateway Greens. Tickets will be available in early September at the Gateway Green Center, 6101 Delmar at Rosedale, one block east of Skinker.
Much anticipated by long-time members of the Gateway Greens and other pesto lovers, the Pesto Feast is the Gateway Greens' biggest fundraiser of the year.
For the many new members drawn to the Gateway Greens by Ralph Nader's presidential campaign, pesto is a vegetarian delicacy of Italian descent. Don Fitz and Barbara Chicherio's renowned recipe of basil, olive oil and garlic is the flavorful topping for fresh pasta. Two pesto varieties are available, regular pesto mixed with Parmesan cheese and vegan pesto with pine nuts.
The event will also provide an opportunity to meet and greet Green Party candidates on the November ballot.
