Peace and Non-violence

We are all one on one planet and all peoples and species share a common destiny. Boundaries are merely artificial lines drawn by humans to separate and control. These boundaries are not barriers to the world-wide flow of information, products, and social and ecological problems. The health, welfare, and economies of all nations are inextricably intertwined. Someday, the people will unite in a global community but until then we must give up our old ideas of "us versus them." We must learn to live with each other in an atmosphere of peace, mutual respect, and cooperation.

Peace is more than the absence of war or violence. It is an attitude of each individual that manifests in his or her life and the choices made each day. Peace or the absence of peace in international affairs is merely a collective reflection of the peace in each individual, family, and community. We support and encourage peace and non- violence in all spheres--for the individual, family, community, environment, nations, biosphere and so forth.

Many of the issues of international peace and non- violence are beyond the scope of state politics but we will do our part to support decreases in military spending and weapons building. We support the peace- keeping activities of the United Nations and cultural exchanges and citizen diplomacy of all kinds. We also can contribute our money, time, expertise, and other resources to other parts of the world that need humanitarian aid, and technical and financial assistance to develop a sustainable, ecological society.

We support the development of programs that promote peace and non-violence for individuals, families, communities, environments, regions, and nations.
